Trump Admin. is Taking Money From Our Schools

Hi, folks:

Let's be clear. The Trump Administration is shortchanging Pennsylvania children's education and future.

The U.S. Department of Education is withholding nearly $231 million of pre-approved Congressional funding - all to finance billionaire tax breaks.

Here at home, West Chester Area School District is being robbed of $300,000 toward important educational programs, which may lead to higher local school taxes.

Our Constitution is clear. Congress decides where to allocate federal funding. NOT the president. The illegal freeze of pre-approved Congressional funding promised to our children is not only dangerous, but incredibly cruel.

This is UNJUST and another insult to the American people - and the rights of our most precious resource, our children.

Impacts on Pennsylvania's K-12 Schools and Adult Education Programs:

  • Title I-C ($11,162,804), which funds services for students from families whose jobs in fisheries, food processing, and other transient industries require them to move from state to state throughout the year.
  • Title II-A ($70,576,382), which funds professional development for teachers.
  • Title III-A ($19,599,716), which funds services for English learners.
  • Title IV-A ($55,431,763), which provides funding for academic enrichment and student support.
  • Title IV-B ($53,160,818), which funds before- and after-school programs. It’s also known as the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers program.
  • Adult Education basic grants ($18,645,367), which fund literacy and general instructional services for adult students.
  • Adult Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education grants ($2,137,361), which supplement educational services for adult students.

$230,714,211 = TOTAL Funding Loss to Pennsylvania
