Pashinski urges residents to be alert for EBT card skimming
Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski October 15, 2025 | 1:29 PM
HARRISBURG, Oct. 15 – State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski is alerting Pennsylvania residents to be vigilant amid a rise in Electronic Benefit Transfer card skimming incidents reported across Pennsylvania.
“Families and individuals who rely on public assistance should not have to worry about their benefits being stolen,” Pashinski said. “Unfortunately, criminals are using card skimmers to capture EBT information and drain accounts. We want everyone to know how to protect themselves and what to do if their benefits are compromised.”
People who believe their EBT card has been skimmed or compromised should:
- Call the EBT Customer Service Line immediately at 1-800-328-7366 to report the issue.
- Visit their local County Assistance Office to request a replacement card.
- Report the theft to the Pennsylvania Office of State Inspector General’s Skimming Task Force by calling 1-800-932-0582.
Residents are encouraged to regularly check their EBT account balances and remain cautious when using card readers, especially at ATMs and grocery stores. Signs of tampering, such as loose card slots or hidden cameras, should be reported immediately.
“Please share this information with family, friends, and neighbors who use EBT cards,” Pashinski added. “Together, we can help protect Pennsylvanians from fraud and ensure that benefits go to those who truly need them.”
For more information or assistance, residents may call Pashinski’s district office at 570-825-5934 or visit www.RepPashinski.com.
