Pashinski releases statement on passage of minimum wage bill

HARRISBURG, June 21 – State Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski released a statement on the passage of H.B. 1500 – the minimum wage bill.

“It’s been 16 years since the last minimum wage increase in Pennsylvania. Furthermore, 30 states, including all that border Pennsylvania, have raised their minimum wage.

“We even had bipartisan support on this bill. Our workers have called on us as lawmakers time and time again to provide them a livable wage and I was proud to vote in alignment with that.”

The legislation would increase the minimum wage in Pennsylvania to:

  • $11.00 per hour effective Jan. 1, 2024.
  • $13.00 per hour effective Jan. 1, 2025.
  • $15.00 per hour effective Jan. 1, 2026.

There would be annual cost-of-living increases beginning in 2027. The bill would also set the minimum wage for tipped workers at 60% of the hourly minimum wage – which has been stuck at $2.83 per hour since the 20th century.
