Green announces over $3M in awards for local projects

Gaming revenue to fund seven projects for the public good

HARRISBURG, Sept. 17 – State Rep. Roni Green, D-Phila., announced today that seven projects in her legislative district were awarded funds totaling more than $3 million through Pennsylvania's Local Share Account program.

The projects are focused across several North and West Philadelphia communities:

  • $600,000 to Pursuing Transformation, Inc. to renovate an existing building to serve as a facility for workforce development and economic opportunity.
  • $550,000 to the Mann Center for the Performing Arts to remove existing displays and install new LED screens to enhance viewing of stage performances from the lawn seating area.
  • $500,000 to the city of Philadelphia for sidewalk improvements along North 33rd Street from Girard Avenue to Diamond Street, plus recreational, pedestrian, and landscaping improvements along North 33rd Street adjacent to East Fairmount Park.
  • $400,000 to PIDC to renovate the turf, track, and lighting at Chamounix Field to improve functionality and public safety in the area.
  • $400,000 to Zion Baptist Church to restore their historic church building as a community hub for the Nicetown-Tioga community.
  • $350,000 to Shared Food Program to renovate their century-old warehouse used as a low-income food distribution center.
  • $275,000 to Interim House West Facilities Inc. for their facility in East Parkside to enhance security, roofing and drainage, and playground amenities.


"One of our most important jobs as legislators is to improve the quality of life for our neighbors and ensure public safety," said Green. "LSA funding is a major way that we can help our local organizations attain that goal. These seven projects will help to uplift their communities with enhanced facilities and improved accessibility for everyone. I'm proud to be an advocate for these projects and for my neighbors in North and West Philadelphia."
