O’Mara announces $2 million in state grants

MEDIA, Dec. 19 — State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara today announced that $1.99 million is headed to her Delaware County district benefiting local art and culture organizations and public water systems.

Funding has been distributed as follows:

Arts and Culture grants:

  • Media Arts Council: $15,906.
  • The Media Theatre for the Performing Arts: $38,024.

“Through these grants, we nourish the importance of art in our community. This funding supports local creativity, boosts tourism, and creates spaces for people to come together,” O’Mara said. “Thanks to the Arts and Culture Recovery Grant Program, state dollars can go to work making a practical impact by building a stronger, more vibrant society through the arts.”

H2O PA grant:

  • Media Borough: $1,030,879.
    To benefit the Ridge Road Stormwater Facilities project.

Small Water & Sewer Grants:

  • Upper Providence Township: $95,500.
    Replace a collapsed stormwater sewer line.
  • Swarthmore Borough: $300,000.
    Stormwater infrastructure rehabilitation.
  • Morton Borough: $262,057.
    Completion of the borough’s sewer system rehabilitation.
  • Marple Township: $250,000.
    Storm sewer rehabilitation project on Lindbergh Avenue.

“From bolstering stormwater facilities to essential sewer system rehabilitation, each dollar reflects a commitment to practical solutions and the improvement of everyday life,” O’Mara said. “It’s grant programs like Small Water and Sewer and H2O PA that work behind the scenes to preserve the functionality of communities across the commonwealth.”

These three grant programs use funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, and funding has been allotted for them from Act 54 of 2022.
