May 2 e-mail: Need help after Crozer closure? Resources for residents, patients & staff

Dear Neighbor,

Crozer Hospital will close today, May 2, and I know that leaves residents, patients and staff with many unanswered questions. I hope the information below is helpful; whether you’re looking for a new job, to obtain your medical records, need mental health services or need assistance with a related issue.

Questions can be directed to the Delaware County Health Department Wellness Line by calling (484) 276-2100.

Please know that my Delaware County colleagues and I are committed to fighting to end lease backs, put a moratorium on for-profit entities purchasing hospital systems, and give more authority to the Attorney General to oversee sales of health systems, and we have introduced legislation again to do just that. No one should have to wonder if an ambulance will make it in time or drive 45 minutes for emergency care just because a corporation chose profit over people. Closures like this create health care deserts in our communities – putting lives at risk – and we refuse to accept that.

Stop by the Delco Environmental Expo TOMORROW!

Municipal primary important dates

The Primary Election is coming up on May 20! I’m sharing a few key dates so that no voter misses out on the opportunity to have their voice heard.

For more information on voting in Pennsylvania, call the Department of State’s year-round voter hotline at 1-877-VOTESPA or visit vote.pa.gov.

Session recap from last week

I was in Harrisburg last week for voting session, where my colleagues and I voted in support of several bills that will help our neighbors and improve our communities. Despite my ongoing concern over the Crozer closure happening at home, I’m happy to share these legislative wins with you:

Learn more about the I-476 project

PennDOT invites residents to attend a meeting in the next two weeks to review improvement plans for the upcoming project to construct a flexible travel lane on I-476 in both directions and on I-95 southbound.

A live virtual meeting will be held over Microsoft Teams at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6. Anyone interested in tuning in can do so via this meeting link. The virtual meeting will consist of an informative presentation followed by a Q&A session.

An in-person meeting will also be held from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, at the Community Arts Center at 414 Plush Mill Road, Wallingford, PA 19086. The meeting will be conducted as an open house where citizens will have the opportunity to circulate among the subject displays to gather information and discuss the different facets of the project with PennDOT’s design teams.

For more on this project, visit the I-476 Flex Lanes project page.

Thanks for starting your day with me

Grateful to everyone who joined me for last Friday’s Senior Breakfast! I always enjoy the chance to serve my constituents—this time, both with food and conversation.

Special appreciation to our speakers: Register of Wills Vince Rongione, Melissa from the Recorder of Deeds, and Mahatma from Aetna. Big thanks as well to the Media VFW for hosting and to PECO for generously sponsoring the event.

It was a great morning of connection, community, and listening to your concerns!

Hoppy memories made in Broomall

The Easter Egg Roll in Broomall was an egg-cellent event for the whole family! Thank you to the amazing veterans of Marple Memorial Post 805 for making this annual event continue to grow and thrive.

Recognizing Superintendent Dr. Kane

I was honored to attend a special event last week celebrating Dr. Tina Kane as the 2025 Superintendent of the Year! As Superintendent of Marple Newtown School District, Dr. Kane has shown dedication and commitment to her students, educators, and the entire community.

It was a privilege to present her with an official citation recognizing her remarkable work and well-deserved achievement. Congratulations, Dr. Kane!

Every day is Take Back Day

If you missed National Drug Take Back Day on April 26, know that you can always safely discard unneeded/expired medications at one of the countless designated drop-off stations any time. In addition, many police departments provide year-round drop boxes.
