Please join us at our Alzheimer's Symposium: A New Era of Treatment & Brain Health

Last month, we hosted a series of five virtual lunchtime sessions where we discussed potential changes to Medicaid and SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) stemming from recent action by the federal government.

Participants joined us to learn more about these programs and from experts and advocates who shared information about how these changes are likely to impact access and create challenges for the people who rely upon the generational promises they represent. We also talked about how to help people who qualify for these programs not fall through the cracks, as well as how to advocate for a strong, responsive system.

All these Lunch & Learn videos are available to view here. The topics we discussed included:

  • Medicaid & SNAP: An Introduction and Overview
  • Work Reporting Requirements and Impacts to SNAP & Medicaid
  • What Federal Changes Mean for the ACA & Pennie Marketplace
  • Medicaid Funding in Hospitals & Long-Term Care: Changes and Challenges
  • SNAP & the Charitable Food Network

While most people have heard of these programs, many are not aware of their scope or of the range of services they provide. We invite you to learn more about the ways individuals and families could be impacted by recent changes made to this critical safety net.

Upcoming Event Reminders

Our 10th annual Senior Resource Fair is next Friday, and we’re hoping to see you there!  We’re expecting more than 40 exhibitors, all providing targeted information and resources just for seniors, and we will be on hand to answer questions and share an array of information on state government programs and services. Flu shots will be available at no cost, so be sure to bring your Medicare or insurance card.

The following week, we will host our annual Alzheimer’s event. Join us at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mt. Lebanon on Thursday, September 25, to hear from experts about the latest in diagnosis and treatment, how you can take steps now to reduce your risk, and what resources are available to individuals and families.
