Hello!
Our annual Alzheimer’s event is quickly approaching! This year’s event will take place from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church located at 1066 Washington Road in Mt. Lebanon.
The 2025 Alzheimer’s Symposium will feature experts from the Alzheimer’s Association, the Allegheny County Health Department, the University of Pittsburgh’s Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, and other organizations. We will hear about the latest research findings, where things stand with diagnosis and treatment, and how to promote brain health and reduce risk. Resources for individuals and families will also be available.
Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia are difficult diseases for any family to deal with. Oftentimes, a diagnosis impacts everyone in the family system, not just the individual with the disease. We’ve learned how important early diagnosis can be, yet individuals and families are often not sure where to turn if concerns arise. It can be particularly challenging trying to care for a loved one while simultaneously trying to find needed resources - and we know that it’s also important for caregivers to be sure to take care of themselves as well.
Our event this year will seek to address many of these issues, and we’ll also spend time talking about steps we can all take to reduce our risk and promote brain health. Whether you have concerns about yourself or a loved one, are already dealing with the challenges that come with a diagnosis, or are simply interested in learning more, we hope you’ll be able to join us for this engaging informational program!
