Reminder: Virtual Lunch & Learn Series on Medicaid/SNAP Changes Continues

Over the past few months, there has been much discussion about Medicaid and SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). While most people have heard of these programs, many are not aware of their scope and the services that they provide – and how this safety net could be impacted by recent changes made at the federal level.

As a result, we’ve launched a series of FREE, virtual Lunch & Learn sessions to help people better understand things. We’ve already hosted three sessions, two about Medicaid/SNAP Changes, and an Education Special about Uncertainty in Schools Due to Federal Funding Changes. Videos of those sessions may be viewed here.

We have three sessions left and invite you to join us to learn more about these programs and hear from experts and advocates how recent federal changes are likely to impact access and create challenges for the people who rely upon the generational promises they represent. We will also talk about how to help people who qualify for these programs not fall through the cracks, as well as how to advocate for a strong, responsive system.

In the summer, many families have a tough time balancing work and play, and finding time to communicate with elected officials can be challenging. Every summer we bring our office out into the local communities, setting up a table full of state resources at public locations across the 42nd District to give people an opportunity to visit with us where they live.

Please join us at our final Pop-Up Office at the Baldwin Township Municipal Building on Tuesday, Aug. 19 from 2-4:00 p.m.

Our pop-up offices give us a chance to answer questions and share resources related to a range of state services. We have informational fliers on REAL ID, Property Tax/Rent Rebate forms, Senior Handbooks, Pennsylvania maps, coloring and activity books, and so much more. We can even take applications for Pittsburgh Regional Transit Senior ConnectCards, which allow folks 65 and older to ride for free.

We hope that you’ll be able to join us at our remaining Virtual Lunch & Learn sessions or the Baldwin Township Pop-Up Office. As always, if you have questions about any of this information or any state-related matter, please do not hesitate to contact our office at 412-343-3870 or email RepMiller@pahouse.net.
