Virtual Lunch & Learn: Uncertainty in Schools due to Federal Funding Changes

School budgeting is challenging under the very best of circumstances, in part because of the complexity surrounding how public education is funded. As you may already know, earlier this month, Governor Shapiro joined a multistate lawsuit seeking the release of federal funding already appropriated by Congress that had been frozen.

While those particular federal funds have now been released, the unexpected delay in the $230 million allocated to Pennsylvania schools caused a great deal of concern, and the future of a number of programs that have historically received federal funding is uncertain.

That is why my office is hosting a special Lunch & Learn virtual session on “Uncertainty in Schools due to Federal Funding Changes” on Wednesday, August 13, from 12:15 – 12:45 p.m. There is no need to register for this FREE and important discussion, and a link to join the event will be available at RepDanMiller.com the day of the event.

I will be joined by Hannah Barrick, Executive Director, PA Association of School Business Officials, and Dr. Robert Scherrer, Executive Director, Allegheny Intermediate Unit, who will share important information about the role of federal education funding in schools, what programs are likely to be impacted, and what to look for in the months ahead.

We hope that you’ll be able to join us to learn what the impacts of these changes may mean to you or a loved one. As always, if you have questions about any of this information or any state-related matter, please do not hesitate to contact our office at 412-343-3870 or email RepMiller@pahouse.net.

P.S. Don’t forget our first virtual Lunch & Learn about Medicaid/SNAP Changes is Wed., Aug. 6 from 12:15-12:45 p.m. and can be accessed at RepDanMiller.com.
