Also for the 2025-26 legislative session, I have been re-appointed to serve on the House Judiciary and Labor and Industry committees, two areas that are very important to me. My remaining appointments are to the Professional Licensure, Government Oversight, and Intergovernmental Affairs and Operations committees.
Committees play a crucial role in the legislative process. Each committee is responsible for reviewing, analyzing and refining legislation before it goes to the full House for consideration. Here is a brief synopsis of the responsibilities for each of the committees on which I serve:
Judiciary – oversees legislation related to the state police, Department of Corrections, attorney general, Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, Pardons and Probation and Parole boards, State Ethic Commission and more.
Labor and Industry – oversees legislation related to the Department of Labor and Industry, Civil Service Commission, Labor Relations Board, Workers’ Comp Appeal Board and Unemployment Compensation Board of Review, among others.
Professional Licensure – oversees legislation related to the various licensing and examinations boards, including but not limited to, boards for accountants, architects, auctioneers, barbers, real estate professionals, cosmetologists, funeral directors, landscape architects, dentists, chiropractors, nursing home administrators, occupational therapists, podiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, counselors, nurses, and engineers.
Government Oversight – oversees the actions of government officials and agencies.
Intergovernmental Affairs and Operations – oversees legislation related to the Independent Regulatory Review Commission and actions between government agencies.
