Tell Senate Republicans to Get Back to Work

This week, while House Democrats fought for tax cuts, fair school funding, and expanded access to health care, Senate Republicans left Harrisburg early for a long holiday weekend without passing a state budget before the June 30 deadline.

Celebrating National CROWN Day

July 3 is National CROWN Day, a day to celebrate the right to wear your natural hair without fear of discrimination and to continue the work of expanding these protections nationwide.

My colleagues and I took time this week to commemorate the passing of the Pennsylvania CROWN Act into law last year. We know how important it is that Pennsylvanians can wear their braids, twists and locs with confidence in their schools and workplaces, and we will continue to support bans on race-based hair discrimination in all 50 states.

Stay Safe During Dangerous Heat

A Heat Health Emergency is in effect for Philadelphia. Temperatures will continue to be dangerously high through the holiday weekend when many are celebrating outside.

Additionally, if you see an unhoused neighbor who needs help, you can call Philadelphia’s Homeless Street Outreach at 215-232-1984.

Office Closed in Observance of July Fourth

Please note, in observance of Independence Day, my district office will be closed on Friday, July 3. I wish everyone a happy and safe holiday and we look forward to serving you when the office reopens on Monday, July 6.

July Food Giveaway

My office, in partnership with Rep. Amen Brown’s office and Caring for Friends will be giving out free, healthy food on July 17, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. or until supplies last. All are welcome!
