I joined SEIU & the Magee union nurses, community advocates, and elected officials in support of paid parental leave in Allegheny County! The Magee nurses have surveyed over 1000 community members as they bargain for their first contract - the support for paid family leave is overwhelming! I was proud to vote for the Family Care Act in March, and I’m happy to see members of county leadership pushing for paid family leave on the county level. Let’s get this done to support working families here and across the Commonwealth!

It’s Teacher Appreciation week! THANK YOU to all the amazing teachers in District 42! I joined Melissa & Jess from the Dormont Elementary PFO to “Chalk the Walk” for our teachers & staff! The kids had a great time writing messages to their teachers to kick off a fun week. We know how much educators do for our kids, and how much of that work is after the school doors close for the day and often unnoticed.

I joined members of the Allegheny County House & Senate Delegation and County Council to hear negotiations updates from the union nurses at Magee Women’s Hospital as they seek to settle their first contract since winning their union last summer.

Thank you to Dormont’s Bird Town Committee for hosting a wonderful event at the Dormont Public Library! It was great to hear from Tess Wilson from the Audubon Society about bird migration, and Conor from the committee about how to get into birdwatching. Story time and kids crafts were a big hit!

The Castle Shannon Library Tiny Art show was AMAZING! This was not only a beautiful celebration of local artists, but a reminder of why our local public libraries are so special – they are places where the entire community is welcome and can come together.

I attended the Arts Landing Ribbon Cutting downtown! This beautiful space is part of a wide public and private partnership to invest in the city, including $8 million from the state. I was especially touched by Councilman Khari Mosley’s words about his father - renowned artist Thaddeus Mosley - whose bronze sculpture installation “Touching the Earth” is featured in the space. From downtown’s first playground, to pickleball, to gorgeous walks nestled in between buildings, to a stage with a quintessential view - this place will be magical for generations to come!

It was a pleasure to present a citation from the House of Representatives in honor of the 100th anniversary of Lincoln Elementary School in Mt. Lebanon. On an absolutely perfect afternoon, we celebrated the importance of Lincoln Elementary to the neighborhood — a treasure where multiple generations have gathered to learn and connect as a community. Here’s to another wonderful 100 years!

I joined Reps. Venkat, McAndrew, Kinkead, and Sen. Fontana for a panel discussion at the Allegheny League of Municipalities conference at Seven Springs! Having recently been a local elected official, it was great to sit on the other side of the table to talk about legislation and budget issues impacting municipalities in Allegheny County.

I was honored to join several of my colleagues from the House and Senate at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit Legislative Panel. It was great to meet so many energetic educators and stakeholders to talk about the future of public education in PA and how we can best meet the needs of every learner!

I’m so excited to add a Josh Hoffman original painting to the walls of the District 42 office! I commissioned this painting based on a picture I took a few years ago - Josh worked from both the picture and plein air on my front porch to create this beautiful representation of the hills & houses of Dormont!

Thank you to our Dormont Elementary PFO for hosting a wonderful "Spring-O-Bingo!" I was delighted to call a couple rounds. I'm always happy to support our schools and the amazing organizations like the PFO that keep them running!

I had the pleasure of being the keynote speaker at the Point Park University Honors Program Scholastic Writing Awards. I congratulate all the winners and participants, and I look forward to supporting the awards in the future!

The girls & I had a wonderful time at Easter Egg Hunts in Upper St Clair, Dormont & Mt. Lebanon. A little chilly but always great to be out in our District 42 communities!

Lebanon community (and beyond) - from journalists, to community organizers, to police officers, to commissioners, it was so wonderful to see the amazing impact these women have made.

It was a great day for a T & bike ride into the city! I had a great meeting with Scott Bricker from Bike Pittsburgh to talk about legislation to protect cyclists on our streets, and got to enjoy the new bike lane on Penn Avenue in the Strip!
