Mazzocco announces $8.9 million state investment to replace Dormont water service lines

DORMONT, JULY 15 – State Rep. Jen Mazzocco announced today that $8.9 million in funding from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, known as PENNVEST, will support the replacement of water service lines in Dormont Borough.

The funding will allow Pennsylvania-American Water Co. to replace about 575 utility-owned and privately owned lead and galvanized lead-impacted water service lines throughout Dormont.

According to PENNVEST, the project will improve the reliability of the community's water system, remove lead service lines and help reduce costs for residents.

"Quality of life starts with the essentials, including clean, safe drinking water," Mazzocco said.

"Replacing old lead service lines will make Dormont's water system safer and more reliable while helping residents avoid the costs that come with aging infrastructure. It's welcome news for our community, and I'm grateful to PENNVEST for making this critically important investment in Dormont."
