DEER MITIGATION DISCUSSION

As the chair of the House Game & Fisheries Committee, I recently joined representatives from the Pennsylvania Game Commission to discuss deer mitigation, as part of the Washington County Farm Bureau Legislative Tour. Thank you to the Ross Family for opening up their farm in Claysville for the visit. The landscape was beautiful, as were the cattle being raised there.

PA HUNTING SEASON STARTS SEPTEMBER 1!

Hunting season kicks off in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, September 1, with the early Canada goose and dove seasons!

Goose and dove hunters must have a general hunting license and a migratory game bird license. Goose hunters must also have a Federal Duck Stamp. Sunday hunting is closed for migratory game birds this season.

Review seasons and bag limits here and check the Hunting and Trapping Digest for all major updates, including Sunday hunting expansions and fluorescent orange requirements.

In other news, a new HuntFishPA app is coming for Pennsylvania hunters in 2027. It will combine digital licenses, e-tagging, harvest reporting, game land maps, season/location info, and contact updates into one app. To prepare for the new app, the PA Game Commission app has been deactivated.

In the meantime, hunters can view licenses at huntfish.pa.gov and must still carry physical harvest tags in the field for the 2026-27 season.

WELCOMING STUDENTS BACK TO SCHOOL

I had a fun time with school and local leaders welcoming students in the Sto-Rox School District back for the first day of classes! I'd like to wish all students a great start to the new school year!
