SPRING SHREDDING EVENT

Shedding documents doesn’t just declutter- it also protects you from identity theft! Join me on April 18 at Burkett Sports Complex for a free shredding event, where personal documents will be safely destroyed on-site.

If you have any unused or expired medications, Allegheny County Sheriff's Office Project D.U.M.P. will be at this event and collect those for proper disposal.

I hope to see you there!

COLD WATER SAFETY TIPS

a placeholder image for you to replace

As we’ve seen with the drastic temperature drops, spring doesn’t mean the end of cold weather! As chair of the House Game and Fisheries Committee, I want to remind everyone about the cold weather life jacket requirement for boaters.

From November 1 through April 30, boaters are required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket while in boats that are less than 16 feet in length or on any kayak, canoe, or paddleboard.

According to Pennsylvania boating accident reports, nearly 80% of all boating fatalities occurred because boaters were not wearing life jackets. Since the mandatory life jacket wear law was enacted in 2012, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has seen a significant drop in the percentage of boating incidents with fatalities during the cold weather months.

Stay safe on the water, and good luck on opening day of trout season on April 4th!

MEDICARE ADVANTAGE OPEN ENROLLMENT

On behalf of the Department of Aging, I want to remind older adults that the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment ends on March 31. During this open enrollment period, beneficiaries can switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or return to original Medicare.

HONORING EAGLE SCOUTS FROM TROOP 860

On March 18, I had the honor to recognize four young men from Troop 860 who earned the rank of Eagle Scout. It was a privilege to present special citations from the House of Representatives to Carter Claypool, Mitchell Humbert, and brothers Jacob and Justin Potanko!

Congrats to these four Eagle Scouts for their incredible accomplishments!
