KEEPING KIDS SAFE ONLINE

I was honored to welcome Governor Josh Shapiro to the Carnegie Clubhouse at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania, for a discussion with local students, parents, school administrators, mental health professionals and state leaders about AI and its influence on young people. Learn more about the discussion here.

I'm grateful the Governor chose our community for this important announcement and I remain committed to working alongside his administration to protect every Pennsylvanian in an increasingly digital world.

Chartiers Valley School District has been awarded more than $17,000 through the newly established School Bus Safety Grant Program to train 12 new school bus drivers, with funding covering training costs, trainee wages, and the testing and permit fees required to earn a CDL.

Chartiers Valley was one of seven schools and transportation providers across Pennsylvania awarded a total of $250,000 in program funding to train nearly 90 new school bus drivers. Learn more about the grants here.

The program's next application period just opened. Independent school bus contractors, school entities, and municipalities are eligible to apply online at grants.pa.gov by April 30, 2026. For program details, visit penndot.pa.gov/schoolbus.
