Funding for our first responders, help improve PA’s outdoor recreation and more!

Our first responders selflessly serve our community, which is why I’m proud to announce more than $227,000 in grants from the Office of the State Fire Commissioner that can help them access resources, training and equipment they need to continue to protect us.

SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON WAYS TO IMPROVE OUTDOOR RECREATION

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources invites Pennsylvanians to share their thoughts on ways to improve and expand outdoor recreation opportunities for all.

The public comment period is now open through March 3 on DCNR’s draft 2025-29 Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan. This plan, titled "Outdoor Places, Shared Spaces," highlights the importance of local parks and outdoor recreation in enhancing community well-being, promoting economic development, and fostering environmental stewardship.

WORKING TOGETHER FOR WILDLIFE ART CONTEST

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is hosting the 2026 Working Together for Wildlife Art Contest, featuring the barn owl as this year’s highlighted species.

The artist whose painting is selected for the 2026 Working Together for Wildlife fine art print series will receive a prize of $5,000, along with 50 artist proof prints.

Revenue generated from the sale of signed and numbered prints supports wildlife research and management programs in Pennsylvania. This means that participating artists not only have a chance to win but also contribute to wildlife conservation through their art.

All submissions for the 2026 contest must be emailed to rebawillia@pa.gov by 4 p.m. on May 2, 2025.
