Isaacson announces more funding for local redevelopment projects

HARRISBURG, Oct. 31 – State Rep. Mary Isaacson, D-Phila., has announced two state grants awarded to the 175th Legislative District for a combined total of more than $2.5 million.

The recipients of these grants are:

  • New Kensington Community Development Corp., receiving more than $1 million for the renovation of 2917-21 Kensington Ave.
  • WHYY Inc, receiving $1.5 million for renovations to its facility.

“I am excited to see this funding awarded to two very deserving recipients,” Isaacson said. “WHYY and Kensington Ave are crucial parts of the 175th district, and I can’t wait to see how these renovations improve both places.”

The funds are from the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.

RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenue or other measures of economic activity.
