Davidson announces more than $4.36 million in state grants

HARRISBURG, Sept. 16 – State Rep. Nate Davidson, D-Cumberland/Dauphin, today announced more than $4.36 million in state grants for multiple projects to improve quality of life in the 103rd Legislative District. Davidson worked with state Sens. Greg Rothman and Patty Kim, along with state Rep. Tom Mehaffie, R-Dauphin, to help secure the funding.
The funds were awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority via the Local Share Account, which distributes money from gaming revenues to counties to support projects in the public interest.
"Investing state resources into local communities has a lasting impact," said Davidson. "Every single dollar we bring back home is a direct investment in the future of our neighborhoods, and I am always thrilled to help deliver tangible, meaningful results that make our community a great place to live, work, start a business, and raise a family."
"The state investments in Camp Hill and Wormleysburg will strengthen our community with improved efficiency and enhanced safety," said Rothman. "I was glad to advocate for this funding for the benefit of local taxpayers."
"The projects being addressed in the latest round of grants will not only support public safety and handicapped accessibility, but many of them will preserve and restore some of our most historic buildings," said Mehaffie. "I'm especially pleased about funding for the Zembo Shrine, a building that will soon be 100 years old and already is featured on the National Register of Historic Places."
"I'm proud to have worked alongside my colleagues in the House to secure this funding that supports our first responders, municipalities, nonprofits, and community organizations," said Kim. "This successful round of state funding just goes to show that when we work together locally, great things happen."
The grants were awarded to:
• $995,058 to the Zembo Shriners for renovations to the shrine located in Harrisburg.
• $800,000 to the Harrisburg Area YMCA for a new elevator and other infrastructure adjustments associated with the construction.
• $600,000 to Historic Harrisburg Association Inc. for preservation and restoration of the Midtown Historic District's 1893 Central Trust Company building.
• $600,000 to the Susquehanna Regional Transportation Authority to construct a new Operations, Maintenance, Administrative, and Transfer Center in Harrisburg.
• $496,478 to the Borough of Wormleysburg for upgrades to its Municipal Building.
• $400,000 to Lower Paxton Township to purchase and install 45 mobile radios, four base stations, and 136 portable radios.
• $370,000 to the Borough of Camp Hill to complete a pedestrian planning study along Cumberland Boulevard.
• $100,000 to the Harrisburg Realty Improvements Corp. for a housing unit improvement project.
