Malagari announces $75,000 investment for PMEA line worker training

LANSDALE, APRIL 2 – Today, State Rep. Steve Malagari announced the procurement of $75,000 for a line worker training program within the Pennsylvania Municipal Electric Association.

PMEA is an association of 35 Pennsylvania boroughs, including Lansdale and Hatfield, that deliver electric power to residents. Through a $75,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, PMEA aims to teach the next generation of electricians and other professionals.

“I’m always proud to support bringing highly skilled labor into Montgomery County,” Malagari said. “PMEA has successfully helped connect the people of Lansdale, Hatfield and the county to electric power, and to keep connected, we need trusted line workers. This training will give my district and all of Pennsylvania a new crop of workers who are ready to go in any situation.”

PMEA Vice President and Lansdale Electric Superintendent Andrew Krauss said he is proud to advocate for “the men and women who keep the lights on.”

“DCED Pennsylvania state grant funding plays a critical role in ensuring our Lansdale utility linemen receive the highest level of training, especially in a profession where safety is paramount and the work is inherently dangerous,” Krauss said. “These resources help us better protect our crews while they serve our community every day. We are truly grateful for the continued support from our state representatives.”

“These grants are an investment in the linework training program and a critical step toward strengthening the electric industry’s workforce and ensuring long-term reliability of our public power infrastructure,” said Hatfield Public Works Director and Electric Superintendent Steve Fickert.
