Schlossberg applauds governor’s proposed investments in schools, job creation, mental health care

HARRISBURG, Feb. 3 State Rep. Mike Schlossberg offered the following statement in response to Gov. Josh Shapiro’s 2026-27 state budget that he proposed today before a joint session of the Pennsylvania General Assembly:

“I think Governor Shapiro’s proposed budget is a great first step for the Lehigh Valley. It builds on the historic progress being made to invest in our community schools and ensure world-class public education is available to every student regardless of ZIP code.

“Likewise, Governor Shapiro is proposing to continue the incredible work we have done to make Pennsylvania a leader in job creation, adding to the tens of billions of private investments spurred by efforts to attract and grow businesses. Efforts like this have allowed Pennsylvania to attract world-class companies like Eli Lily to the Lehigh Valley, contribute to the construction of the Upper Macungie Township Community Lifestyle Center, invest in housing improvements at Phoebe Ministries, and help to redevelop the former A-Treat facility.

“I am also encouraged by Governor Shapiro’s increase in resources to support mental health care improvements in Pennsylvania, working with counties to better meet our community’s needs with more providers.

“Pennsylvania needs to be a strong partner for education, job creation and mental health care. Governor Shapiro’s proposal reflects that strong partnership with our schools, businesses and workers, and mental health care providers. This is the first step in the process. Working with my colleagues in the Pennsylvania House, I am eager to get to work on the 2026-27 budget.”
