Philadelphia House Delegation celebrates Super Bowl LIX Champion Philadelphia Eagles in the PA House

HARRISBURG, May 7 – Today, the PA House of Representatives recognized the Super Bowl LIX Champion Philadelphia Eagles in the House chamber. House Resolution 217, sponsored by Philadelphia House Delegation Chairwoman Morgan Cephas, D-Phila., recognizes May 7, 2025, as Philadelphia Eagles Day at the state Capitol, honoring the team’s second Super Bowl victory and fifth NFL Championship in the 92-year history of the organization.

“Super Bowl 59 was a dominating victory for our Eagles over the two-time defending champions. As we saw by the nearly 1 million fans who descended on our city for the victory parade, this championship means so much to so many people in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. We are also proud of the Eagles’ commitment to their charitable and philanthropic work in our Philadelphia communities, including their flagship initiative the Eagles Autism Foundation, so our delegation is proud to celebrate our beloved champions with this resolution and welcome the organization to our state Capitol,” said Cephas.

“It is also worth noting that it would not have been possible to move the hundreds of thousands of fans on the day of the parade, nor the tens of thousands to the three home playoff games in South Philadelphia, without mass transportation. This is a prime example of how Philadelphia and southeastern Pennsylvania cannot move without SEPTA, so we must get a funding solution for mass transportation. If you are a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, you must be a fan of mass transportation! Go Birds!”

Leaders from the Eagles organization were present in the House Chamber for the recognition, including President Don Smolenski; Aileen Dagrosa, senior vice president, general counsel and administrative officer; Marla Axelrod, vice president, deputy general counsel; and others.
