Howard announces $751,400 in DCNR grants for local parks

MALVERN, Oct. 7 – State Rep. Kristine Howard, D-Chester, announced today that $751,400 in state grants from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has been awarded to two development projects for local parks.

Both projects are funded by DCNR Community Conservation Partnerships Program grants. The program intends to connect Pennsylvanians with the outdoors by supporting recreational improvements, natural-resource conservation, and community-revitalization efforts.

$541,600 was awarded to West Whiteland Township for development of the Exton Park Sports Courts. $209,800 was awarded to East Whiteland Township for Phase 2B development of the Bacton Hill Park.

"Our parks are vital and invaluable community resources,” Howard said. “I want to thank DCNR for their commitment to constantly improving our parks and preserving our green spaces here in Chester County and across our commonwealth.”
