Changes in DHS Customer Service and County Assistance Office Hours
Beginning October 2, 2025, all County Assistance Offices (CAO), the DHS Customer Service Centers (CSC), and the DHS Helpline will open to the public and begin operations at 11:00 a.m. on Thursdays. This change does not affect posted hours at CAOs, CSC call centers or DHS Helpline hours on other days of the week.
DHS is making this change in order to institute in-service training hours for DHS staff in light of policy changes implemented by the federal budget bill passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump on July 4th, 2025.
DHS will re-evaluate service hours later this Fall.
Fraudulent Texts Target Pennsylvanians in Refund Scam
The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue is warning about a phishing scam targeting Pennsylvanians. The scam involves fraudulent text messages that impersonate Pennsylvania Department of Revenue officials and attempt to trick recipients into sharing sensitive personal and financial information.
These messages often include links to fake websites and request banking details under the pretense of processing a refund.
The PA Department of Revenue does not send unsolicited text messages asking for banking information. If you have received a text message asking for such information, do not click on any links, do not respond, and delete the message immediately.
The Department of Revenue advises all Pennsylvania taxpayers to verify the status of their refund only through official channels. Taxpayers can check the status of their refunds online by visiting the department’s official online tax hub, myPATH, or by calling 1-888-PATAXES. Taxpayers will be prompted to provide their Social Security number and requested refund amount to obtain the current status.
To verify potentially fraudulent contact from the Department or to report suspicious activity, visit revenue.pa.gov.
Montgomery County’s Flag Raising for Veteran Suicide Prevention Week
September is Suicide Prevention Month. Last Friday in Norristown, I had the privilege of speaking at Montgomery County’s flag raising for Veteran Suicide Prevention Week. The flag raising was in partnership with State Rep. Joe Webster, the VA, and the Montgomery County Suicide Prevention Task Force’s Veteran Suicide Prevention Subcommittee.
As a veteran myself, I understand the invisible wounds that service can leave behind. I’ve seen the mental and emotional toll that military life can take—long after the battle ends. That’s why veteran suicide prevention must not only be a national priority—it must be a moral commitment.
It is critical that we invest in accessible, high-quality mental health services, break the stigma surrounding mental health, and create a culture where seeking help is seen as a strength.
