Changes to SNAP and Medicaid Benefits

In July of 2025, President Trump signed a bill into law that will change programs run by the PA Department of Human Services (DHS).

This law makes changes to Medical Assistance (Medicaid) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). For some SNAP recipients, these changes will begin September 1st, 2025.

PA DHS is waiting for information on how states must implement these changes.

If you are enrolled in these programs, your benefits have not changed at this time and will not change without notice from DHS.

Please make sure that you keep your address and other contact information up-to-date with DHS as well as the USPS to avoid missing this correspondence.

To see how and if these changes affect you, please contact the Montgomery County Assistance Office Customer Service Line at 877-395-8930.

You can also check the PA Department of Human Services website for any updates or changes:

Update on PA State Grants

The PA General Assembly provides funding for the PA State Grant and other special programs that PHEAA helps to administer. Right now, the state budget is still being finalized, so until it’s signed, final 2025–26 PA State Grant award amounts and disbursements are on hold.

Please note that other PHEAA-administered programs may also be affected.

PHEAA recommends that students talk with their school’s financial aid office to understand how this may impact their aid package.

Updates will be shared as soon as they become available. You can also find up-to-date information on the PHEAA website:

Packing Backpacks With Cradles to Crayons

Last week, I joined several other lawmakers at the Cradles to Crayons

“Legislator’s Backpack-a-Thon.”

As legislators, we all know how important it is to set children up for success when beginning a new school year. By packing these backpacks full of necessary school items, we ensured that 1000 children will start the school year off right and with all the items they need to learn and flourish.

I was happy to participate in this special event and wish all the kiddos in my district and across the Commonwealth a great start to school and happy first day back!

Fall Shredding Event

Join us for our free shredding event — a fantastic opportunity to protect your personal information while making a positive impact on your community!

Safely dispose of old documents and keep your sensitive information out of the wrong hands. Paper shredding is a powerful deterrent to identity theft, making it nearly impossible for thieves to reconstruct private details. Plus, shredding supports paper recycling, helping to reduce waste in landfills!

And here’s another way to give back — bring non-perishable food items for donation and support local food banks while you’re there.

We’re thrilled to offer this service once again for our constituents. Protect your identity, reduce waste, and help your community — all in one event!
