Pennsylvania Steps Up Fight Against Financial Scams

Financial scams and fraud attempts are on the rise across Pennsylvania. These scams often come by email, text, or phone call — usually unsolicited — with scammers posing as loved ones, trusted businesses, or government agencies.

Pennsylvania is working hard to prevent scammers from targeting residents and educating people on how to spot and avoid these schemes.

There is more help than ever to assist Pennsylvanians with scams and fraudulent activity. The Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities and the Pennsylvania Insurance Department have teamed up with Governor Shapiro to launch a one-stop-shop for consumer protection.

To report scams and fraud, you can use the following contact information to be routed to the agency that can best assist you.

- Call 1-866-PACOMPLAINT

Turnpike Approves 4% Tolling Increase Effective January 4th, 2026

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has approved a 4% tolling increase effective January 4th, 2026. This increase moves the per-mile rate from $.07 to $.073 and the segment fee from $1.09 to $1.13 on the mainline of the TP and on the Northeast Extension. On all other extensions, this will be a straight 4% increase to existing trips.

This is the lowest increase since 2014 and will be used entirely to repay the Turnpike’s debt service.

Flat Nancy Visits the Endless Mountains

Our staffer, Gina, enjoyed her summer vacation with family in the Endless Mountains in Northeastern, PA. She took Flat Nancy along for the ride – visiting the Benton, PA Rodeo in Columbia County, hiking Double Run Trail in World’s End State Park, and finding a vintage phone booth in Shunk, PA. Pennsylvania has so much to offer – from hiking to shopping, and rodeos to sporting events – there is always something fun to do in the Commonwealth. Thanks to Gina for taking me along for the festivities!

Fall Shredding Event

Join us for our free shredding event—a fantastic opportunity to protect your personal information while making a positive impact on your community!

Safely dispose of old documents and keep your sensitive information out of the wrong hands. Paper shredding is a powerful deterrent to identity theft, making it nearly impossible for thieves to reconstruct private details. Plus, shredding supports paper recycling, helping to reduce waste in landfills!

And here’s another way to give back—bring non-perishable food items for donation and support local food banks while you’re there.

We’re thrilled to offer this service once again for our constituents. Protect your identity, reduce waste, and help your community—all in one event!
