Registered Apprenticeship Programs Offered Through PA CareerLink

PA CareerLink offers pre-apprentice and apprenticeship programs that allow employers to develop and prepare their future workforce, while providing individuals with a learn-while-you-earn approach to career development.

The pre-apprentice program is for high school students, while the apprentice programs are for adults of all ages. Individuals can obtain paid work experience, classroom instruction, and a portable, nationally recognized credential, which can lead to a fulfilling and family-sustaining career, without the burden of debt that comes with traditional 4-year higher education programs.

There are several programs to choose from including, but not limited to Technology, Building Trades, Manufacturing, Education, Agriculture, and more.

For a list of pre-apprentice and apprentice programs offered across the state and for more details on the program and how to register, please visit:

Along with Rep. Matt Bradford, Senator Maria Collett, and my staff – I visited Merrymead Farm in Lansdale, Montgomery County. Merrymead is one of the several creameries on the PA Scooped Ice Cream Trail, part of the PA Great American Getaway tourism initiative.

You can earn prizes for eating ice cream – how amazing is that?

Visit 6 creameries on the participating list, enjoy a scoop of delicious ice cream, and receive a commemorative stainless-steel tumbler. Visit 10 different creameries and get entered to win an overnight getaway in Lancaster County.

Map out your plan today to sample some of the best ice cream across the state! The list of participating creameries and more details about the trail can be found through the link below.

District Receives Pennvest Funding to Assist in PFAS Treatment

Aqua Pennsylvania has been awarded funding for a project that will remove PFAS from the drinking water and improve their facilities at the Hall Road water treatment facility in Abington Township. They have received a combined grant and loan funding of $7 million from Pennvest. The Hall Road facility project will include construction of a treatment building addition, replacement of the well pump, and installation of one train of anion exchange filters with pre-filtration for PFAS treatment.

Pennvest provides financial assistance for water infrastructure projects across the state and is essential for funding new projects that support the health and safety of PA residents through safe drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and other related projects.

See the below press release for more details:

Montgomery County Raises Minimum Wage for County Workers

Montgomery County workers will now earn $4 more an hour, thanks to the salary board's unanimous decision to increase the minimum wage for workers by 25%. This increase brings the minimum wage to $20.52, which is nearly three times the state minimum wage of $7.25.

Commissioner Jamila Winder commented that, “if we want strong communities, we have to start with strong teams. That means paying people fairly.”

Funds for the rises were gathered through cost-saving measures identified by the county’s new Office of Innovation, Strategy, and Performance.

I am hopeful that with this increase on the county level, a significant push will be made to increase the state-wide minimum wage.

Visit to The Wall That Heals

I recently visited The Wall That Heals exhibit in Windlestrae Park in North Wales, Montgomery County. The exhibit included a ¾ replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, along with a mobile education Center. This was such a moving exhibit, and I am thankful that I was able to experience it in person. Many thanks to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, who continue to bring this exhibit to the public and keep these veterans' memories alive.

Fall Shredding Event

Join us for our free shredding event—a fantastic opportunity to protect your personal information while making a positive impact on your community!

Safely dispose of old documents and keep your sensitive information out of the wrong hands. Paper shredding is a powerful deterrent to identity theft, making it nearly impossible for thieves to reconstruct private details. Plus, shredding supports paper recycling, helping to reduce waste in landfills!

And here’s another way to give back—bring non-perishable food items for donation and support local food banks while you’re there.

We’re thrilled to offer this service once again for our constituents. Protect your identity, reduce waste, and help your community—all in one event!
