Harrisburg Happenings

This was a busy week in Harrisburg because lawmakers in the House worked diligently to pass some very important legislation that affects you! Contact your State Senators and encourage them to vote YES on the following two bills.

HB 1396 – The Voting Rights Protection Act ensures you have early access to voting and convenient ballot boxes to drop off your mail-in-ballot, making mail-in-voting easier. It also requires the electric modernization of poll books, and ensures safety, security, and integrity for every election across Pennsylvania. We should be making it easier, not harder, for ALL Pennsylvanians to have their voice heard and their vote protected.

I voted to protect your right to vote in a free, fair, and SAFE election.

HB 1263 – The Keystone Saves program gives workers the power they need and deserve to control their own future. We’re encouraging stable, long-term investments to prevent any seniors from having to be forced back to work. You shouldn’t have to work until you die – and this bill ensures access to a retirement plan for working families.

That’s why I voted to make sure retirees here in Montgomery County don’t have to scramble to find work to survive after dedicating their time and energy to the workforce for so long.

Valuing Our Veterans

In recognition of Military Appreciation Month and Memorial Day, I, along with some of my fellow veteran representatives, made a short video to express our gratitude to veterans – to honor them for their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to our nation.

Older Artists of PA Showcase Features One of Our Own!

Page Morahan, from Bryn Athyn, was among the 30 plus artists to be selected for the Older Artists of PA Showcase in Harrisburg. After seeing the information in my newsletter on how to enter, Page decided to give it a shot. Her piece – "Bali's Dawn Symphony: A Dance of Light and Water" – was selected, and her work is on display in the State Capitol East Wing Rotunda. I was thrilled to stop by the reception to honor all the artists and see her work in person. Congratulations, Page, on such a wonderful honor!

Hatboro Community Day

Hatboro lucked out with a beautiful, sunny Saturday to hold its annual Hatboro Community Day! The pool was open for everyone in the community to use, and the Enterprise Fire Company was grilling dogs and burgers - all free to anyone in attendance. Vendors were available with information on various organizations, and Hatboro even had a foam machine for the kids to enjoy! It was a fun day for all. Many thanks to the Borough of Hatboro for putting on such a fun event for the community.
