Last week, Alexander Graff, the Southeast Region State Game Warden, visited our office. He updated us on the PA Game Commission and what it offers the Commonwealth's residents.

The PGC’s mission is to manage and protect wildlife and their habitats while promoting hunting and trapping for current and future generations.

Whether you are looking to report a wildlife violation, purchase a hunting license, report a wildlife harvest, or get educated on wildlife and habitat management – the PA Game Commission does it all.

On Saturday, I joined other lawmakers, as well as Governor Josh Shapiro to survey the damage at SPS Technologies and to thank the firefighters and first responders who put their own lives on the line to make sure that every worker got out safely and to put out the blaze that threatened neighbors and businesses located near the building.

Over 60 fire units from across the region were involved in the response, and I am forever grateful for their service.

Welcome to Hatboro, Greek Korner!!! Along with Senator Maria Collett and Hatboro Borough staff members, we attended the Grand Opening for The Greek Korner. We are thrilled to have you as part of our community. Head down and try out their tasty Greek food. It’s delicious!

Abington Board of Commissioners voted to approve the Township's ordinance banning single-use plastic bags and polystyrene foam containers. It's a long-awaited step by the Township and is a big milestone in the statewide effort to tackle plastic pollution. With Abington's vote, 20% of Pennsylvanians now live in a municipality with a plastic bag ban.

The Montgomery County Senior Games (MCSG) combine sports and recreation with fellowship among everyone involved.

The mission of MCSG is to stimulate senior adults in Montgomery County to be active in sports and recreational events to maintain physical and mental well-being.  Any individual who will be at least 50 years of age in 2025 may register. 

Registration for 2025 will open on Thursday, February 27th at 9 am.

All participants must register online – no phone or mail-in registrations are accepted. If you would prefer to register in person, you may do so at the following Township Buildings:

Whitpain Township, 960 Wentz Road, Blue Bell, PA 19422 (Hours: M-F, 8:30 am-4:30 pm)

Hatfield Township, 1950 School Road, Hatfield, PA 19440 (Hours: M-Th, 8 am-4:30 pm / Fridays, 8 am-3 pm)

Lower Providence Township, 100 Parklane Drive, Eagleville, PA 19403

The Philadelphia Flower Show returns to the Pennsylvania Convention Center from March 1 to March 9, 2025. On Saturdays and Sundays, March 1 – 2 and March 8 – 9, SEPTA’s Regional Rail offers additional service on the Lansdale/Doylestown, Paoli/Thorndale, and Fox Chase lines.

Additional Regional Rail Service for the 2025 Philadelphia Flower Show – Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority

Last week, along with Congresswoman Madeleine Dean, I was able to tour the newly expanded Resilience Resource Center. The vision of the Resilience Resource Center is a world where everyone can be themselves and have access to resources to thrive and overcome adversity. They empower their community with the tools they need to take care of themselves - building resilience and offering valuable support and skills to help create a fulfilling life.

I am thrilled they have moved into a larger space where they can continue to grow and serve these marginalized communities.

Join me, Senator Maria Collett, Legal Aid of Southeastern PA, and the Montgomery County Public Defenders for our free Expungement Clinic on Thursday, March 20, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Upper Moreland Free Public Library. Eligible participants will meet with legal experts who can answer questions and support them through the expungement process.

Appointments are required, and only PA arrests are eligible. Call Senator Collett's office at 215-368-1429 to secure your time slot before they fill up!

Hosted by me, state Rep. Melissa Cerrato, and state Sen. Maria Collett, College Prep Night is going to be a “can’t miss” event for any family with school-aged children. It will be a question-and-answer style presentation with Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) and Pennsylvania Department of Treasury representatives discussing such topics as the PA 529 plan, financial aid, scholarships, FAFSA applications and deadlines, and finding the right fit for your child.

Parents of elementary and middle school-aged children are also encouraged to attend to hear about the PA 529 savings plan and how to start planning for higher education early!

This is a FREE event – we just ask that you use the QR Code found on the flyer or call our office to register.

If higher education is in your child’s future, this is an event you won’t want to miss!

Confused about REAL ID? Not sure if you need one? Unsure of the required documents needed to apply?

Come to our PennDOT REAL ID Information Presentation at the Upper Moreland Free Public Library on Thursday, April 10 at 10 am. A PennDOT representative will be presenting information regarding the REAL ID process. A representative from the Montgomery County Register of Wills will also be on hand to answer questions about applying for certain supporting documentation that may be required. The presentation will last 30-40 minutes with a Q&A session to follow.

Please note that NO REAL IDs will be provided at this event. This is a presentation and informational event only.

Having trouble making it into the office? We offer mobile office hours at the Upper Moreland Library every 4th Friday of the month. The sessions will be 10:30 am-12:30 pm. Stop by and see us for assistance with any issues!

We are proud to offer Veterans Service Hours every second Thursday to assist Veterans with a variety of issues – including but not limited to Compensation and Pension Claims, Education Benefits, State Benefits, and Burial and Survivor Benefits.
