Green announces funding for community improvement projects

Khan and colleagues introduce resolution demanding accountability in DHS and ICE enforcement

State Rep. Tarik Khan, D–Philadelphia, joined by colleagues in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, today introduced a resolution urging Congress to withhold additional federal appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) until meaningful accountability and safety reforms are enacted.The resolution comes in the wake of the killing of ICU nurse Alex Pretti by federal agents in Minneapolis in January 2026, just weeks after another U.S. citizen, Renee Nicole Good, was shot and killed during federal immigration enforcement operations in the same city. Green announces over $3.3M in funding for transportation improvements

HARRISBURG, Jan. 21 – State Rep. Roni Green, D-Phila., announced that $3,302,763 has been awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority to local transportation projects to improve public safety and quality of life in the 190th Legislative District.Three projects were awarded funding through state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund to support local transportation projects that encourage economic development and safe transit:•$2,100,000 to Fairmount Park Conservancy to complete a traffic calming and streetscape improvement project along East and West Memorial drives, South Concourse Drive, and Avenue of the Republic.•$1,129,310 to the City Avenue Special Services District of Philadelphia and Lower Merion to repair and improve the City Avenue Pedestrian Bridge.•$73,453 to North District Owner LLC to improve the parking lot at the North Philadelphia Train Station.“Protecting the folks using our streets and walkways is paramount to public safety in our communities, so I’m happy to announce funding for these projects,” said Green. “Traffic through East Fairmount Park is long overdue for attention, as well as improving parking accommodations at North Station. Use: To assist with the growth, certification of seed and marketing of eligible specialty crops. NEWLY LISTED PROGRAMS PennDOT: Green Light-Go Program Who May Apply: Municipalities and planning organizations. Use: To improve existing traffic control signals, such as LED replacement, traffic signal retiming, and studies, among other projects. Funds: Up to $40 million is available and projects require a 20% match. Application Deadline: Pre-application scoping forms will be accepted until January 2, 2026. PennDOT will provide comments by February 28, 2026. The full application window will be between March 1, 2026, and March 31, 2026. More information: PennDOT website Conservation and Natural Resources: Volunteer Fire Assistance Who May Apply: Volunteer fire companies in rural areas or communities under 10,000 in population Use: To prevent, control, and suppress the threat of wildfires through the purchase of wildfire suppression equipment, wildfire protective gear, mobile radios, installation of dry hydrants, wildfire training, or wildfire prevention and mitigation Funds: Funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
