PRT funding passes House

The PA House last week passed H.B. 1364, which would send much-needed additional funding to PRT and other public transit agencies across the state, as well as road and bridge construction. The bill reallocates $300 million for mass transit statewide from existing state sales tax revenue and sets aside $500 million to repay new state bonds for road and bridge construction.

Dubbed the Public Transportation Trust Fund Transfer Act, the legislation has moved to the state Senate for consideration, so please reach out to Senate leaders and urge them to support HB 1364!

Gergely family visits Capitol for condolence resolution

I was proud to welcome the family of the late state Rep. Matthew Gergely this week when they visited the Capitol to honor the memory of our local legislator who passed away earlier this year.

The House on Monday passed HR 268, which I introduced to recognize the life and legacy and important contributions of Rep. Gergely.

Bill to spark more historic preservation passes committee

The House Finance Committee last week approved my bill to make it easier to rehabilitate and preserve certain historic properties in Pennsylvania. House Bill 1572 would alleviate some of the construction and rehabilitation costs of property preservation by increasing a tax credit available for each project under the state’s Historic Preservation Tax Credit. The bill is now headed to the House floor.

The tax-credit program provides tax credits to qualified taxpayers who are restoring a qualified historic structure into an income-producing property. Last session, the General Assembly took an important step by increasing the total tax credits issued per year from $5 million per year to $20 million. However, each qualifying project can only receive a credit of $500,000, and my legislation would increase the per-project cap on the credit to $1.5 million.

General hunting licenses on sale now

Resident antlerless licenses went on sale this week for all the state’s Wildlife Management Units and will be guaranteed in the first round. On July 14, the first round opens to nonresidents, and remaining antlerless licenses will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Purchase one online or find information about in-person purchases at PA Game Commission.
