Freeman welcomes $4.5 million for Easton projects

HARRISBURG, Oct. 26 – State Rep. Robert Freeman said he helped secure $4.5 million in grants that were awarded today for development in Easton.

“These projects will be a nice addition to the Easton Transportation Center and along the waterfront and will bring needed parking to the city. I am glad that I was able to play a part in getting this funding released by the Wolf administration and I would like to thank the governor for approving the grants,” said Freeman, D-Northampton.

A $3 million grant was awarded to the Easton 185 South 3rd St. Confluence project that will add a 183-space parking garage and podium to spur the development of three mixed-use buildings. In addition, a pedestrian bridge is proposed to connect residents and visitors with the Easton Transportation Center garage.

An additional $1.5 million grant was provided for Watermark Easton, a new construction project located at 45 Larry Holmes Drive in Easton that includes a 250-space parking deck flanked by two buildings containing a total of 150 apartment units. Each building will offer residential space with balconies and views of the Delaware River. The proposed RACP scope is focused on construction of the parking structure at the site, including associated site improvements.

Freeman said the funds were awarded through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, a commonwealth grant program overseen by the Office of the Budget to assist with regional cultural, economic, civic and historical projects that improve a community’s economic growth by creating jobs and opportunities.
