PITTSBURGH, Jan. 26 – A total of $325,000 from the Allegheny County Gaming Economic Tourism Fund will support replacing staircases in Crafton and renovating the Casa San Jose building, according to state Rep. Dan Deasy, D-Allegheny. The following amounts were awarded: $200,000 to Crafton Borough for the first phase of its program to replace deteriorating staircases. The work will involve replacing 195 concrete or wooden stairs with new concrete, associated cheek walls and landings, handrail, retaining walls and chain link fence. The project also includes site preparation, traffic control, erosion and sediment control, and site cleanup. $125,000 to renovate the Casa San Jose building at 1602-1606 Broadway Avenue. The project includes renovating the floors, wall systems, ceilings, doors and hardware, kitchen cabinetry and food heating equipment, new HVAC, new electric system upgrade, new LED lighting, fire alarm and fire sprinkler installation, telephone/data network installation, plumbing installation, stair and elevator addition, improvements to the exterior shell, new windows, and storefront entrance system. “I’m pleased to see these investments will make important improvements in these communities,” Deasy said. “Casa San Jose provides important resources for the growing Hispanic community.
