Funding the Bristol-Levittown area

As your State Representative, one of my responsibilities is to ensure that our community receives its fair share of state funding. Over the past 12 months, I’ve helped secure millions of dollars in grants for schools, local governments, nonprofits, and first responders. Here's a summary of some of the funding we've brought home.

Update on U.S. 1 Improvements

PennDOT’s Section RC2 project to widen and modernize U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships is nearing completion. The work includes new bridges, upgraded interchanges, noise walls, drainage improvements, and expanded lanes to improve safety and traffic flow.

  • Four lanes now open in each direction.
  • New bridges over Neshaminy Creek, Rockhill Drive & Business U.S. 1.
  • Final paving and line striping expected to wrap up this summer — ahead of schedule.

While not in our district, many of our residents travel on this segment of U.S. 1 — and major upgrades are nearly complete.

This section connects with improvements completed in 2022 under Section RC1. The next phase, Section RC3, is in final design and scheduled to begin construction in 2029.

PA Public Utility Commission Advises Consumers to Manage Rising Summer Energy Costs

The recent heat waves across Pennsylvania have caused electricity use to reach levels not seen in over a decade. As a result, many households may see higher electric bills in the coming weeks.

Whether you live in a small apartment or a larger home, the added use of air conditioners, fans, and dehumidifiers can increase energy costs. It’s a good idea to review your bill carefully, especially if you have a contract with a competitive energy supplier.

If you are struggling with bills or past-due balances, consider contacting your utility company to explore assistance programs. These may include payment plans, customer assistance programs, and referrals to other local or national aid. Reaching out early can help you avoid larger balances later.

Even though some of the hottest days may have passed, summer isn’t over. You can still take simple steps to reduce energy use and manage costs, such as:

  • Raising your thermostat a few degrees and using fans to circulate air.
  • Limiting appliance use during peak hours (5–7 PM).
  • Closing blinds or curtains during sunny hours.
  • Avoiding unnecessary lighting or electronics that generate extra heat.
  • Sealing windows and doors to keep cool air inside.

Budget update

As of the writing of this newsletter, we do not have a state budget in place for Fiscal Year 2025-26.  My House colleagues and I passed a spending bill in July that fully funds SEPTA and other public transit agencies and, does so in a responsible manner – with no broad-based tax increases.  We are waiting on the state Senate and its Republican leadership to act.

I will make updates on the progress of the state budget on my social media platforms and through my district wide emails.
