Help Save Public Transit in Lower Bucks County
|
If SEPTA plays a role in your daily life — getting to work, school, medical appointments, or anywhere else — I want to hear from you.
We’re collecting stories from Lower Bucks County residents to share with Senate leadership as they consider the future of public transit funding. Your voice could help save essential services.
Please take a moment to share your SEPTA story here.
(We’ll only use your first name, and only with your permission.)
As you may have heard, SEPTA is facing a $213 million deficit. Without new funding from the state, SEPTA plans to:
- Eliminate the Trenton Regional Rail Line (serving Levittown, Bristol, Croydon)
- Cut Bus Routes 127 & 128
- Raise fares by an average of 21.5%
- End all rail service after 9 p.m.
These cuts would leave thousands of residents stranded and put even more cars on I-95. It's especially frustrating after major state-supported investments like the $36 million rebuild of Levittown Station and the current $30 million renovation at Bristol.
The House has passed legislation, and Governor Shapiro has proposed a plan. Now it’s time for the Senate to act — and your story could make the difference.
Let’s keep Bucks County connected and moving forward.
Thank you for lending your voice.

Expanding Access to Women's Healthcare
|
May is Women’s Health Month — a great reminder for women across Pennsylvania to prioritize their health by scheduling important check-ups and preventive screenings. Early detection through services like breast and cervical cancer screenings can make all the difference, and many of these are available at no cost thanks to insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act. For eligible women, the Pennsylvania Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program offers free screenings and follow-up care, helping remove barriers to accessing vital health services.
To better understand the challenges women face in using these benefits, the Pennsylvania Insurance Department joined by the Department of Health, the Department of Human Services, and the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs have launched a new survey.
The goal is to hear directly from women about any questions or obstacles they might have when accessing free preventive services like regular check-ups, screenings, and pregnancy care. The survey is quick and will remain open until July 7. It’s a great opportunity to share your experience and help improve access to care.

Put Down the Phone: 'Paul Miller's Law' Effective June 5
|
Starting June 5, Pennsylvania will officially ban the use of hand-held cell phones while driving under the new law known as “Paul Miller’s Law.” This legislation, signed by Governor Josh Shapiro in 2024, prohibits drivers from using a hand-held device while behind the wheel—even if the vehicle is stopped in traffic, at a red light, or during any other temporary delay.
While Pennsylvania already bans texting while driving, this new law expands those protections to cover all hand-held phone use. Drivers can still use their phones in emergency situations and when connected to hands-free technology for making calls, using GPS, or listening to music.
Enforcement will be phased in. Starting June 5, law enforcement will begin issuing written warnings for violations. One year later, on June 6, 2026, officers will have the authority to issue citations.
Named in memory of Paul Miller, Jr., who tragically lost his life in a distracted driving crash in Monroe County, this law honors his legacy while aiming to save lives across our Commonwealth.
To promote transparency and prevent bias in enforcement, the law also mandates that officers collect demographic data—including race, ethnicity, and gender—on drivers stopped for violations. This information will be included in an annual public report.
For more information on distracted driving and how to stay safe on the road, visit www.PennDOT.pa.gov/safety.
