Davis: Bristol Township School District receives $189K grant award

LEVITTOWN, Aug. 7 – State Rep. Tina Davis, D-Bucks, today announced that the Bristol Township School District has been selected to receive a $189,000 Continuity of Education Equity Grant for the 2020-21 academic year.

“This grant will ensure that our students have the resources needed to succeed academically in the coming school year,” Davis said. “The pandemic exposed the inequalities in our educational system. We must do everything we can to level the playing field. This grant money will help us do that.”

The grants may be used to purchase computer equipment, such as laptops, tablets, and internet hot spots, or toward providing instructional materials, such as paper lessons and coursework. Schools with the highest percentages of students lacking access to resources were given priority in receiving these grants.

CEEG grants are designed to help provide access and inclusion for all learners by bridging the gap for students who are currently limited in their ability to participate in continuity of education. Earlier this year, the Pennsylvania Department of Education was able to provide approximately $5 million to fund 96 applications, with additional funds through Governor’s Emergency Education Relief under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act. PDE is now able to provide an additional $13 million.
