Scam Targeting Bucks County Property Owners
|
The Bucks County Planning Commission has issued a warning about a scam targeting property owners currently working with the Commission. Fraudulent emails have been sent—first identified in April and again earlier this month—claiming to request payment for an “application approval fee.”
In both instances, the emails appeared to come from the Commission’s board chair. However, Bucks County officials confirm that neither the board chair nor board members send official communications regarding application approvals or fee payments.
This type of scam mirrors similar schemes reported across the country, often associated with wire transfer fraud, where victims are tricked into transferring large sums of money that are often unrecoverable.
Key safety reminders:
- Do not click on any links.
- Do not download any attachments.
- Do not follow instructions provided in the message.
These emails are fraudulent and are not from the Bucks County Planning Commission. The county does not request payments via email in this manner.
To protect yourself:
- Guard your personal information carefully.
- Be cautious of unsolicited emails requesting payment.
- If you receive a suspicious message, contact the county directly at (215) 345-3400—not the number listed in the suspicious email.
Vigilance is essential.

PA Mentor-Protégé Program expanded to support more veteran-owned businesses
|
The Mentor-Protégé Program, launched by the Department of General Services in May 2024, pairs experienced contractors with small, diverse, and veteran-owned businesses to help them grow, compete, and win state contracts.
Companies that participate in the year-long program become part of a “cohort.” The second cohort began this week and is comprised of vendors approved under PA’s Consulting Services Invitation to Qualify contract.
Additional cohorts will be added to the MPP soon. Interested firms can learn more and apply online. If your company is not a current ITQ vendor with PA, you should begin the ITQ prequalification process to become eligible. For questions, please contact Charlie White, MPP Manager.
To be eligible for the MPP:
- Mentors must be active PA prime contractors in good standing with at least one contract award of $300,000 or more in the past three years.
- Protégés must be verified as a Small Diverse Business (SDB) or Veteran Business Enterprise (VBE) by DGS and listed on Consulting Services ITQ.
Expanding the MPP is part of the Shapiro-Davis Administration’s broader effort to open doors for businesses of all sizes and backgrounds. Earlier this summer, DGS also launched new Micro and Midsize Business Programs.

Help Shape the Future of the D&L Trail Crossings
|
Bristol Township, in collaboration with Falls Township and the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, is conducting a D&L Trail Crossing Study aimed at improving safety, accessibility, and connectivity at six key road crossings along the trail.
The D&L Trail spans over 165 miles—from Wilkes-Barre to Bristol—and connects with the Circuit Trails and the East Coast Greenway. Locally, several points where the trail intersects with roads currently lack safe infrastructure such as crosswalks and signage, creating challenges for pedestrians and cyclists.
The six crossings included in the study are:
- Old Bristol Pike
- Wheatsheaf Road
- Mill Creek Road
- Haines Road
- Edgely Road
- Airport Road
Community input is critical.
Residents are encouraged to share their experiences at these crossings to help inform concept designs, which will be presented later this year.
The D&L Trail Crossings Tour will take place from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 4. Walk or bike the trail with the project team or stop by any of the six crossings to provide input directly.
For more information, to view the interactive project map, and to complete the community survey, visit: D&L Trail Crossing Study StoryMap.
