Lincoln logged a stop in Bristol
|
I wanted to share some exciting news from Bristol Borough. State Sen. Steve Santarsiero and I recently had the honor of presenting a $60,000 check to Bristol Borough Raising the Bar to help bring their latest historic preservation project to life.
This funding will support the creation of a permanent display commemorating President-elect Abraham Lincoln’s stop in Bristol on Feb. 21, 1861 -- his only stop in Bucks County during his journey to Washington, D.C. for his inauguration. The site, located on the 300 block of Pond Street in front of Snyder-Girotti School, already includes preserved railroad track where the event took place.
The project includes a covered train platform, eight steel figures representing Lincoln and the crowd of over 1,000 that gathered that day, uplighting, historic signage, landscaping, QR codes linking to Lincoln’s speeches, and more. It’s a thoughtful, artistic, and historically significant addition to our community -- and one that will attract visitors, support tourism, and inspire pride in our shared history.
I’m incredibly proud to support this effort and help ensure our town’s role in American history is recognized and remembered.
If you’d like to learn more about Bristol Borough Raising the Bar or how to support the Lincoln platform project, feel free to reach out or visit its Facebook page.

The website ConsumerAffairs.com confirmed what many already know—Levittown is a great place to live.
In fact, ConsumerAffairs ranked Levittown as the third-best place to move to in Pennsylvania. Here’s what it had to say:
"Levittown has a rich history, originating shortly after World War II as one of several housing developments built by Levitt & Sons for returning veterans. Today, it stands out as a top choice for potential movers thanks to its low crime rate and strong local economy."
Highlights from the ranking include:
- Low violent crime: Levittown has the third-lowest violent crime rate in Pennsylvania, with just 1.1 incidents per 1,000 residents.
- Robust economy: It ties for second place in economic strength, sharing a 4.1% job growth rate with Drexel Hill and boasting the fourth-lowest poverty rate in the state (7.2%).
- Educated community: An impressive 93.3% of residents have graduated high school, placing Levittown eighth in Pennsylvania for educational attainment.
- Access to health care: With 30.3 health care professionals per 1,000 people, Levittown ranks sixth in the state for health care accessibility.
This recognition is a testament to the strength, dedication, and resilience of the entire Levittown community. From local leaders to educators, small business owners to families, every member of the community has played a role in making Levittown the thriving, welcoming place it is today. Congratulations to everyone -- this is your accomplishment!
