Remembering a community leader
|
Calvary Baptist Church, in partnership with the Cramp family, is hosting a lunch reception for first responders who attend services on Saturday. The church is seeking food donations to support this event. Those wishing to contribute can contact the church office at (215) 788-8418 or email office@calvarybaptist.org.
This event comes in the wake of a heartbreaking tragedy that occurred last week, when Chris Cramp and his two sons tragically lost their lives in a collision with an Amtrak train in Bristol. Chris, a beloved member of our community, was a volunteer firefighter with Bristol Borough Fire Department and had a long-standing career at Penndel Mental Health, where he was dedicated to supporting vulnerable members of our community. Recently, he began working for the county, continuing his mission to aid those in need.
Chris’ unwavering commitment to the homeless and his selfless service to others left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His passing is deeply mourned by our district, and the lunch reception aims to honor his legacy by showing appreciation to the first responders who continue to serve our community.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Cramp family and all those affected by this tragic loss.

Get tested for diabetic retinopathy for free
|
On Saturday, April 26 free diabetic eye screenings will be available across the state to help detect and prevent diabetic retinopathy, the leading cause of blindness in working-age adults. With more than half of people with diabetes likely to develop DR over time, these free screenings offer a crucial opportunity for early detection and prevention at no cost to participants.
In support of this vital initiative, I sponsored House Resolution 113, which was adopted by the House. The resolution aims to raise awareness of these free screenings and to recognize the ophthalmologists who are generously donating their time and expertise to this important cause.
I am proud to support an effort that not only helps safeguard the health of individuals but also strengthens the well-being of our entire community.
For more information on the free tests offered by Wills Eye, please click here. Other participating institutions include: UPMC Ophthalmology , Penn State Ophthalmology, Geisinger Ophthalmology, Nazareth Ophthalmology, Temple Ophthalmology (through insurance only), Scheie Eye, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Department of Ophthalmology, and Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology.

Be cautious with unsolicited election communications
|
The Bucks County Board of Elections is urging residents to stay alert when receiving unsolicited election-related mail, emails, or texts. Recently, a county resident reported receiving an email from a Gmail address titled “BucksCounty Elections.” The email promoted candidates from one political party and encouraged the recipient to apply for a mail-in ballot. This caused confusion for the recipient, who had already applied for a ballot, leading the individual to question if the message was an official communication.
The county wants to make it clear that this email was NOT from the official Board of Elections. While it didn’t appear malicious, it did cause unnecessary concern. The BOE is reminding voters to stay cautious and always verify the source of any election-related communication.
To help avoid confusion and ensure security, the BOE offers these important tips:
- Official BOE emails will only come from “buckscounty.org” or “buckscounty.gov” addresses, never Gmail or similar non-government addresses.
- The BOE will never endorse any candidate or political party.
- If you receive any suspicious communication, do not click any links. Contact the BOE directly at (215) 348-6154 for clarification.
