Conklin: Over $900,000 secured for local park, forestry projects

CENTRE COUNTY, Oct. 7 – Today, state Rep. Scott Conklin announced that $923,400 in Community Conservation Partnerships Program grant funding will go toward park and forest projects in Centre County.

The funding from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources program is part of a statewide effort to support recreational improvements, natural resource conservation and community revitalization efforts.

Of the allocation, $377,200 will go toward rehabilitation and development at High Point Park in State College, while another $300,000 will go toward the same at Gray’s Woods Park in Patton Township. Another $246,200 was allocated for the implementation of a riparian forest buffer, which is a grouping of trees, shrubs and grasses planted along streams to maintain waterway health, throughout Centre and Huntingdon counties.

“Our county’s array of nature is one of its greatest attributes, and I’m proud to secure funding to make it even more accessible for everyone,” Conklin said. “Adding to our robust parks system will keep us active and bolster our community ties, and buffering our forests with more greenery will keep us beautiful. I thank the commonwealth for its ongoing support.”
