House adopts Conklin resolution honoring Pennsylvania State Grange

Commemorates unique service and advocacy organization

HARRISBURG, June 30 – The Pennsylvania House today adopted state Rep. Scott Conklin's resolution recognizing Sept. 18, 2025, and Sept. 18, 2026, as “State Grange Day” in Pennsylvania.

Conklin’s H.R. 5 honors the Pennsylvania State Grange’s legacy of service and advocacy that has continued to enrich the commonwealth’s small, rural and agricultural communities for more than 150 years.

“The men and women who make up The Grange have kept alive the best traditions of our commonwealth, from the spirit of fellowship and neighbors helping neighbors to community service and stewardship of our land,” said Conklin, who is a sixth-degree Grange member. “I am deeply honored to be a member of this unique organization and to take part in its education, advocacy and other efforts that empower our rural and agricultural communities.”

Conklin said the Pennsylvania State Grange first met in September 1873, when members of 25 local granges united to strengthen their rural communities. Since then, the Grange has evolved from a small farmer's fraternity into a multifaceted organization with thousands of members involved in education, advocacy, and community service.

The commonwealth currently has 170 local granges with 5,700 members of all ages. In 2023, the House adopted Conklin’s resolution celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Grange. The newly adopted resolution will mark the Grange’s 152nd and 153rd anniversaries on Sept. 18, 2025, and Sept. 18, 2026, respectively.
