The Pennsylvania Legislative Latino Caucus, chaired by Rep. Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz, hosted a celebration marking Dominican Independence Day in the Main Rotunda of the Pennsylvania Capitol. The event, marked this year with the theme “Roots, Resilience & Results: Dominican Immigrants Powering Pennsylvania,” recognized the 182nd anniversary of the Dominican Republic declaring independence after centuries of Spanish colonialism and 22 years of Haitian control, which ended on Feb. 27, 1844.
