Carroll hosts townhall with neighbors to discuss public safety

PHILADELPHIA, April 16 – Following the recent shooting of an 18-year-old young man outside of the Lonnie Young Recreation Center, state Rep. Andre D. Carroll, D-Phila., hosted a community town hall at Lonnie Young Recreation Center Tuesday evening to address community safety concerns.

“Following this tragic shooting, I wanted to bring neighbors together to ensure them of work being done by elected officials at all levels of government, law enforcement and community organizations to keep us safe from gun violence as well as resources that can benefit those affected by gun violence,” Carroll said. “As the state representative for the Philadelphia neighborhoods of Germantown, Logan and West Oak Lane, I remain steadfast in my commitment to pushing for legislation that will help keep our community safe and free from gun violence.”

Members of the community attended to hear Carroll and other local leaders inform them about the work they’re doing to combat gun violence in the community.

Carroll was joined by the Office of Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, Philadelphia Councilmember Isaiah Thomas, Philadelphia Police and multiple community organizations.
