Upcoming Session to pass the Pennsylvania Budget

Dear Neighbors,

We will be back in session next week, for the majority of June. When the time comes, I will be sure to provide you all with updates surrounding the Pennsylvania budget and the important programs and organizations that we will be funding.

In the meantime, my district office staff and I have all been hard at work here in our community providing resources at events, showing up for local businesses and organizations, and hosting events to help YOU! Read on to see what we’ve been up to, and check out some of the upcoming events in our area!

Lastly, Happy early Pride Month! This June we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and use this a reminder of how much progress we have made!

Always in service,

Rep. Andre D. Carroll

Team Carroll in the Community

On May 8th, my team provided some of the resources we offer at Congressman Dwight Evans’ Senior Resource and Wellness Fair! This was a great event held at Center in the Park for seniors to give them anything they may need, from legal support to relaxing techniques! Thank you Congressman Evans for putting on this great event for our neighbors and inviting my team out to help assist where we can!

On May 8th, I attended Senator Haywood & Senator Hughes’ press conference highlighting VIP grants that were recently announced by PCCD! These grants provide over $65 Million across Pennsylvania to reduce gun violence and expand after school initiatives. I am always happy to be a part of any initiative the state puts forward to make our communities safer, healthier, and productive!

On May 9th, Germantown got its very own Bell Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Joseph Coleman Library! I am super happy to get a celebratory 250th Birthday of America Bell right here in Germantown! Thank you G-Town United for bringing all of our community leaders together in efforts to celebrate how far we have come as a community and a nation!

On May 9th, Senator Art Haywood and I hosted a Paper Shredding & E-Recycling event that our community loved! It always brings me joy hearing first-hand from our neighbors how much they appreciate events that we hold. We filled this shredding truck to the brim!  I’m super happy to hear any of your ideas for events you want to see from me, please feel free to reach out to our office at any time with things you want to see in our community! Thank you Senator Art Haywood and staff for being great partners and I can’t wait to partner with you again very soon!

On May 12th, I had the honor of attending Need in Deed’s 2026 Shout Outs, where I was proud to present the Student Voice Award to Mrs. Conyers-Bey’s class. Their project, “The Finletter Eagles Take on Better School Lunches, Crime, Anti-Gun Violence, Bullying, and Racism,” was incredibly powerful and inspiring. Their work truly touched me because many of the issues they addressed are some of the same challenges I faced growing up. Seeing young people use their voices to speak out, advocate for change, and work toward creating a better environment for themselves and future students gives me so much hope for the future. Thank you to Need in Deed and Mrs. Conyers-Bey for allowing me to celebrate these deserving students and the important work they are doing in their community!

On May 14th, State Representative Darisha Parker and I hosted a Conversational Cafe at Philippian Baptist Church in efforts to inform our community about wills, power of attorney, deeds, and other related topics. This was a very informative meeting and I’m happy so many of our community members came out for this special event! Thank you Pastor Nick Chrisitan, Rep. Parker, and the District Attorney’s Office for coming out and making this a great event.

On May 14th, I enjoyed some great food at the School for Deaf Cookout! Super exciting to see schools in our community hosting fun events for students, parents, and community members to enjoy. I even got a tour of the school and saw all the wonderful things the students are doing! Thank you Melissa, Patty, and Denise for welcoming me and making this cookout an unforgettable experience!

On May 14th, I was part of the ribbon cutting at Nicholson Church Lane Community Garden! This was the grand reopening of a garden that has been a key part of this community for decades. This reopening happened after the slope they were on was reconstructed to a step system allowing for less damage to be caused during the rainy months! Thank you Jenny Greenburg and everyone with Neighborhood Gardens Trust for inviting me to share this special moment with you all! If you’re interested in seeing this beautiful community garden, or help out, give them a visit at 234 Church Lane!

On May 14th, I had the privilege of attending the Legacy Unmasked: Dick Vermeil’s Private Reserve Dinner presented by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia, and it was truly an inspiring experience. It was powerful to be surrounded by so many people united around supporting a cause that invests directly in young people and the future of our communities. I’m incredibly grateful for the invitation and look forward to attending many more events centered on uplifting and empowering the next generation.

On May 16th, I was happy to honor a young man making a difference in our community: Amir Staten! This was a part of Senator Vincent Hughes’ Young Men Making a Difference: Honoring the Legacy of Malcom X event! Amir is the definition of making a difference as he was recently named Mr. Moorehouse, which recognized him for his leadership and academic excellence! Happy to continue to see you grow and I know your future will be bright!

On May 21st, CareerLink NW had its grand reopening, and I’m incredibly happy to see this important resource back and running for our community! With the new renovations, our neighbors will have an even better experience and access to so many new opportunities. Thank you to the CareerLink team for inviting me out and for all the work you do to support our community. I hope everyone who walks through these doors enjoys this beautiful new space as much as I did!
