Statement on the Tragic Loss of Kada Scott

“I am deeply heartbroken by the tragic loss of Kada Scott and the discovery of her body here in our community. My heart aches for Kada’s family, her friends, and everyone who loved her. No family should ever have to endure this kind of pain.

I first met Kada when she was running for Miss Pennsylvania 2025. She radiated hope, ambition, and kindness. After graduating from Penn State University, she returned to our area with a clear desire to contribute meaningfully to the place she called home. Her life was full of promise.

I’ve been in contact with Kada’s family, and I want to express my gratitude for allowing me to support them during this unimaginably difficult time. Their strength and grace in the face of heartbreak is admirable.

Words alone are not enough. What we need now is compassion for one another, to protect our people, and to create a safer, more loving community where every life is cherished.

Beyond our grief, we also have a responsibility to act. My colleagues and I must pursue legislation that addresses the root causes of violence and ensures that tragedies like this are not repeated. Whether through expanded resources for mental health, stronger domestic violence prevention laws, or increased support for community-based safety programs.

To the Scott family: please know that you are not alone. We stand with you in solidarity, and in the ongoing pursuit of justice.

Let us honor Kada’s memory not only with our words, but through our commitment to change by caring for one another, advocating for what’s right, and working to ensure that no family ever has to endure such heartbreaking loss again.”

Delivering for You in Harrisburg

During our last voting session, my House colleagues and I passed important bills that will help our neighbors and improve our communities:

  • We protected workers by allowing them to collect unemployment compensation benefits if their unemployment is due to a stoppage of work because of a labor dispute (HB 145).

  • We’re supporting safe school infrastructure by creating a school facilities inventory within the PA Department of Education (HB 1701).

  • We’re modernizing our state liquor laws and supporting businesses by allowing businesses with liquor licenses to have premixed cocktails on tap, just like beer (HB 1702).

In this email, you’ll find a list of upcoming events taking place in the 201st Legislative District. As always, if you need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact my office at 215-849-6582.

Out and About in the Community

Revolutionary Germantown Festival

On October 4th, I attended the Revolutionary Germantown Festival hosted by Cliveden. This was a free annual community event that has been taking place for over 40 years! This year commemorates the 248th anniversary of the 1777 Battle of Germantown. I got to learn about what life was like during this time period. They showed how people had to take care of clothes, had costumed historical actors, and other hands-on historical activities. This festival gave new meaning to how far Germanton has come today while paying homage to those that came before us. Thank you, Cliveden, for putting on a special historic Festival!

Northwest Mutual Aid Collective Food Giveaway

On October 4th, I attended the Northwest Mutual Aid Collective Food Giveaway where they provide food for neighbors with specialized dietary needs. This program is continuing to help bridge the gap between food insecurities in our neighborhood. Thank you to Northwest Mutual Aid Collective for allowing me to attend and see all of the hard work that goes into serving our community. If you’d like to get involved, you can sign up at NorthwestMutualAidCollective.org.

Georgetown University’s Free Speech Panel

On October 14th, I spoke on a panel for Georgetown University’s Free Speech at the Crossroads alongside Senator Joe Picozzi. This was a great opportunity where we got to discuss and offer our different perspectives on current issues and how things can continue to change Pennsylvanians’ lives every day. Thank you to Georgetown University for holding this free speech event and allowing us to share our thoughts!

Wingohocking Day

On October 11th, I attended Wingohocking Day with Councilwoman Kendra Brooks’ office. We enjoyed live music performances, food trucks, and many city resources. People in the community left ready for the Autumn/Halloween season with pumpkins and smiles as they got to spend time in the community with their neighbors and leaders! Thank you Council member Kendra Books for inviting us to have this wonderful event and we hope to collaborate again very soon!

Senior Fraud Seminar

On October 16th, my office held a Senior fraud seminar at Four Freedoms House where we shared tips on how to recognize scams, connect seniors with The DA’s Elder Justice Unit, provide information on state programs and services, and assist with government related issues. This was a great meeting to connect with our seniors while keeping them informed. Thank you, Four Freedoms House, for letting us host here!
