10/3/25 E-Newsletter: Working Hard in Harrisburg, outreach in the community, and more upcoming events!

This week, my House colleagues and I passed important bills that will help our neighbors and strengthen our communities:

  • We protected consumers by:
    • Requiring disclosure of flood-related risk factors during the homebuying process (HB 1704).
    • Requiring companies that collect personal information electronically to take steps to protect that data from breaches (HB 997).
    • Establishing the Landslide and Sinkhole Insurance Program (HB 589).
    • Giving consumers greater rights regarding their personal data and requiring certain businesses to protect consumer privacy and limit data collection (HB 78).
  • We protected communities by closing loopholes in our laws and expanding background checks for purchases of long guns (HB 1593).
While these bills mark important progress for our commonwealth, the Senate has yet to pass a budget.

In the meantime, you’ll find a list of upcoming events taking place in the 201st Legislative District included in this email. As always, if you need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact my office at 215-849-6582.

In service,

Rep. Andre D. Carroll

Out and About in the Community

Senior Fraud Presentations

My office was thrilled to launch our Senior Fraud Presentations! This is the first of many seminars we’ll be hosting for members of our community. We were glad to partner with Archwell Health for this important event, which came in response to the many inquiries we’ve received about scams and fraud targeting our neighbors. If you would like our office to host a fraud and scam information session, please reach out to us. We look forward to continuing to spread awareness and share this vital preventative information.

Night Market on Ognotz Avenue

On September 18th, my office staff attended the Night Market on Ogontz Avenue, hosted by OARC and Councilmember Anthony Phillips. This free outdoor festival was designed to strengthen community ties, support local businesses, and create a space for neighbors to enjoy. The event featured everything from food trucks to live performances that had the whole neighborhood singing and cheering. Thank you to OARC and Councilmember Anthony Phillips for inviting us to this special evening!

To close the event, a panel of medical research experts shared their insights. Thank you to the Bird Cancer Foundation for raising awareness of an issue that affects so many in our communities every day!
