9/8/25 E-Newsletter Outreach in the community, and more upcoming events!

We are now coming up on 10 weeks of no budget for the fiscal year. Since then, the Senate has reconvened once, but made no progress in passing a budget for critical funds that would go to schools, transportation, and state run programs.

While all of this is happening, we have been hard at work here in the 201st! I am always working to ensure that the people in our community are heard, represented, and taken care of. Whether it is through events and giveaways, town halls, or just participating in conversations with constituents, I am always going to work in Harrisburg and the district for you.

Included in this email is a list of upcoming events taking place in the 201st Legislative District. As always, if you need any assistance with anything, feel free to contact my office at 215.849.6582.

In service,

Rep. Andre D. Carroll

Out and About in the Community

David P. Richardson Day

On August 23rd, I participated in David P. Richardson Day—a day geared towards creating a family reunion-style feel to honor the former State Representative with community bonding. This event had great music, good food, and plenty of members of the community which I got to meet! I was glad to participate and look forward to next year!

James Logan Elementary School Send-off

On Augst 25th, I went to James Logan Elementary School for their first day of school send off! Seeing all the kids excited to get back to school was super fulfilling. I wish all the students, faculty and staff a safe and productive school year!

Snap and Medicare Eligibility Changes

On August 27th, I had the opportunity to work alongside my colleagues Rep. Darisha Parker and Sen. Art Haywood to find solutions to issues that impact the lives of our communities. SNAP and Medicare eligibility requirements have changed, and we want to make sure we are supporting the families in our communities!

Naloxone in Black Initiative

On August 28th, my team attended on my behalf the Office of Public Safety press conference in response to the rising rates of overdose within the Black community. This event was an announcement of the Naloxone in Black initiative which places free low-barrier naloxone boxes outside all Philadelphia Fire Stations. My team left this event with valuable information that will benefit our community in the 201st!

This is an example of one of the Naloxone Box Stations, located at 6900 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia PA 19119

Community Safety Town Hall

On August 28th, I held a town hall in collaboration with Rep. Darisha Parker regarding community safety due to the recent violence within the community. We got clear answers from other community leaders like Senator Art Haywood, Rachel from Northwest Victim Services, Shondell from the Office of Safe Neighborhoods and updates on the recent crimes from the District Attorney’s Office as well as the 14th District’s Police Captain McCollum.

I was able to hear some community concerns as well and came away with different ways we can solve some of these issues. I want to thank everyone for coming out. If you couldn’t make it, I encourage you to reach out to my office with any questions or concerns you may have.

YouthBuild Philadelphia Acceptance Ceremony

On August 28th, I got the chance to experience the YouthBuild Philadelphia’s Acceptance Ceremony. I got an exciting tour from the CEO Le’Yondo Dunn and Principal Kazmir Davis before delivering a speech geared towards inspiring young people in hopes they stay on the right path and continue to pursue their goals. It was wonderful to see students getting recognized for their hard work in earning their place in this program. Shout out to YouthBuild Philadelphia for providing new pathways and preparing young people for college and careers.

Labor Day Parade

On September 1st, I had the opportunity to celebrate Labor Day in my district by participating in the Labor Day Parade! I had a great time meeting constituents and laborers, advocating for workers’ rights, and celebrating the holiday!
