Outreach in the community, and more upcoming events!

While the Senate has been neglecting to act and pass critical legislation to fund mass transit in our commonwealth, we have been hard at work here in the 201st! I am always working to ensure that the people in our community are heard, represented, and taken care of. It was a pleasure to have a back-to-school giveaway in each section of my district – West Oak Lane, Germantown, and Logan. Whether it is through events and giveaways, town halls, or just participating in conversations with constituents, I am always going to work in Harrisburg and the district for you.

Included in this email is a list of upcoming events taking place in the 201st Legislative District. As always, if you need any assistance with anything, feel free to contact my office at 215.849.6582.

In service,

Rep. Andre D. Carroll

Out and About in the Community

National Night Out at Belfield Community Center

On August 5th, my team had the opportunity to attend and support the National Night Out event at the Belfield Community Center. While there, they played kickball and enjoyed hotdogs with members of our community while connecting and familiarizing themselves with local law enforcement and leaders within the community!

Second Back-To-School Drive

On August 9th, I hosted my second of three back-to-school events of this year. My staff and I had a great time supporting the young people in our community. We all enjoyed free food and water ice, free haircuts, and good music as we got everyone prepared for the upcoming school year! I am proud to say that we are equipping the future leaders of our world with the tools they need to succeed in their education. I also would like to thank all of the vendors and community organizations that showed up and showed out to support this event, as well as INIK Boutique in the Germantown area of Philadelphia, for sponsoring this event.

Community Health Fair

On August 9th, I attended the 2nd annual Community Health Fair, where I was on a panel alongside other community leaders to speak about issues and solutions that affect the community. I spoke on some key issues that are currently affecting us including gun violence, SEPTA funding, lack of support for small businesses, and systemic corruption that the community is facing. My hope is that community members walked away with more insight and clarity on issues they wanted addressed by myself and others.

Free Food Giveaway

On August 13th, I collaborated with Councilmember Cindy Bass and Sens. Sharif Street and Art Haywood to host a free food giveaway at Holsey Temple Church. We had the opportunity to give out fresh produce, snacks, and dairy products to members of the community. My team and I had a great time collaborating with others to make this special event run smoothly for the community!

Third and Final Back-To-School Fair

On August 16th, I held my third and final back-to-school event of the year. It was great to be able to provide school supplies for kids all throughout my district and help prepare our young people for school. I want to thank all the volunteers, and all the vendors for coming out and helping make these events special. The community response to these events has been wonderful, and it’s been great to meet all the constituents I serve. I’m glad I got to enjoy some water ice and hotdogs with everyone one last time this summer! I want to also give a special thanks to the sponsor of this event, Thorn’s Barber and Beauty in the Logan section of Philadelphia. These sponsors make these events for our community possible! I hope to have the privilege to continue to bring these events to you next year!

Food Insecurity Policy Hearing

On August 19th, I attended Rep. Amen Brown’s Food Insecurity Policy Hearing, alongside many of my House colleagues. We had the chance to learn how members of the community are being affected by food insecurity and speak about the ways that we can challenge these issues within our community.

Philadelphia Community Youth Court Tour and Mock Trial Observation

On August 21, my team had the opportunity to go to the Philadelphia Community Youth Court’s tour and mock trial observation.

While there, they got to see how young people are getting experience with the court systems and learn about restorative and transformative justice initiatives. Many elected officials came out to learn how we can keep programs like this funded and supported.

Property Tax Rent Rebate

The application deadline for Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program has been extended to Dec. 31, 2025.

Thanks to a historic expansion of the program passed by the General Assembly, more Pennsylvanians than ever -- including older adults, widows/widowers and people with disabilities -- are eligible for the rebates, with increased maximum payments of up to $1,000. In the last claim year, the program issued over 522,000 rebates totaling $319 million, including 106,000 first-time filers.

Filing is free, easy, and can be done online through myPATH. In-person help is also available at my district office and through PA Department of Revenue district offices and Area Agencies on Aging.
