8/8/25 E-Newsletter: Outreach in the community, and more upcoming events!

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

As we have been patiently awaiting the Senate to get back to work, I have been busy in the 201st Legislative District hosting community events to give back and meet with all the wonderful people that I serve to learn what issues you want me to be fighting for in Harrisburg.

Included in this email is a list of upcoming events taking place in the 201st Legislative District. As always, if you need any assistance with anything, feel free to contact my office at 215.849.6582.

In service,

Rep. Andre D. Carroll

Construction Begins on Chelten and Germantown Ave.

Hey folks, we heard all your concerns about Chelten & Germantown Avenue. I am proud to say that construction is finally underway, and we hope we get these roads repaired and ready for you to travel safely on soon!

Out and About in the Community

Johnson House Camp Visit

I had the great opportunity to visit and speak at the Johnson House kids camp. Johnson House is a historic space located in Germantown that once served as a spot on the underground railroad where enslaved people would seek refuge. Being able to speak to youth in our community and address cultural traditions and the meaning of Sankufa, as well as sharing stories passed down from my grandmother, is important to me. I love being able to share my childhood stories with our youth with the hope that I can empower them to be our future leaders. I truly look forward joining them again in the near future!

Heaven-Sent Child-Care Center Visit

On July 25th, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Heaven Sent Child Care. I want to give  a shout out to their director—Talona Coleman—for showing me around and introducing us to some of the youth within our community. We appreciate all that Heaven Sent does for our Germantown community and I hope to have the chance to visit and work with them again!

 Belfield Community Day

On July 26th, my office attended the Belfield Community Day Party where we met with individuals and organizations within our community. We enjoyed musical performances, great food, community resources, and making new connections with you all! I want to give a special shout out to Belfield Community Advisory Committee for making this all happen. We continue to support all of the impactful ways you work to make our community better.

Back-to-School Events

On August 2nd, I had to pleasure of partnering with Senator Art Haywood for his back-to-school day event at Lonnie Young Rec Center. It was great to catch up with our constituents. There was plenty of resources, free food, and school supplies to get our young people prepared for this upcoming school year!

Thank you everyone who came out and thank you Senator Haywood for helping to make this happen!

On August 2nd, I also kicked off my first of three back-to-school resource fairs at Hairafter barbershop where we gave out free book bags, food, snacks, and some supplies to make sure our young folks are prepared for this upcoming school year!

Thank you to all our vendors and community members who came out to support and if you couldn’t make it to this one, we still have two more upcoming back-to-school events in different parts of the district. Please join us this Saturday at INIK Boutique for our second giveaway at 730 E Chelten Ave, 19144.
